Islington Chabad’s Rabbi Mendy Korer took up running six years ago “after eating one too many Shavuot cheesecakes”. His marathon participation attracted donations from near and far with around £4,000 raised for his shul’s High Holy-Day programme. Family and community members cheered him on to a time of 5:15.

Learning disability charity Kisharon netted £20,000 and counting from its group of eight — Joshua Conway (4:30); Levi Degroen (4:45); Lauren Grahame (4:58); Michael Jaeger (4:29); Alex Pollak (3:46); Shlomi Rokach (3:56); Simon Silver (3:48) and Suzanne Weiniger (5:05).
For Ms Weiniger, participation was a 50th birthday challenge.

Mr Jaeger said that as well as supporting “Kisharon’s inspiring work, “it meant a huge amount to be able to be part of this massive sporting event”.

Mental health charity Jami raised £13,000 from a team including a family threesome.
As Dov Seitler explained: “My dad Michael, my brother Gavriel and I decided to run for Jami because we think it’s such an important charity. There is still a stigma around mental health issues. By supporting Jami in this way, we want to raise awareness about Jami and its amazing work and normalise people talking about mental health.”

Jonathan Weissbart lives around the corner from Jami’s Head Room café in Golders Green and will be raising further funds by taking part in the upcoming Richmond Marathon.
Jewish Blind & Disabled’s community engagement manager, Simone Mazin, finished her first marathon in 7:37. David Paul (5:49) also ran for JBD and the two raised around £3,500.

Jeremy Feldman (3:19) raised £1,150 for Shaare Zedek UK.
