Rabbi Shaya and Leah Green are Northwood United Synagogue’s new rabbinic couple, having been voted in unanimously by the congregation. And they are no strangers to members, having been involved in the shul on a part-time basis for the past eight months.

The Liverpool-born rabbi attended the city’s King David High before attending yeshivot in London and America, receiving his ordination in Flatbush. His wife attended schools in Stamford Hill and a seminary in Israel before working for Chabad in Santa Fe. She returned to London to study graphic design.

Rabbi Green said the chance to serve “this warm, friendly and vibrant community was an opportunity I could not ignore. We look forward to leading it for many years to come.”

They will take up their permanent role in mid-June.
