Manchester Jewish Community Care chairman Brian White has stepped down after 20 years.
He has held virtually every executive position with the organisation, which runs the Nicky Alliance Day Care Centre.
Given that Mr White is a senior tax partner at Deloitte's Manchester office, it is ironic that he has never been the MJCC treasurer.
Addressing the charity's annual meeting, he spoke of the high day centre attendance and volunteer activity, plus the provision of 8,000 meals-on-wheels and 1,000 dignified bathing sessions to frail and elderly community members.
"Life is about showing that you care," Mr White said.
"It's about putting something back into society, it's about volunteering, and it's about giving without the expectation to be thanked in return."
MJCC chief executive Michelle Wiseman said Mr White had "worked tirelessly for the organisation and will continue to be involved.
"Under his leadership we have modernised the building, which is very much to his credit. He's been an incredible support."
Former MJCC treasurer Ronnie Levene is the new chairman.
