Northampton Hebrew Congregation has received an £8,000-plus All Our Stories grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to further education about the town’s Jewish heritage, which dates back to the 12th century.
An education pack for school groups visiting the shul has been produced and a heritage cookery book will be published to mark the 125th anniversary of the congregation in October. There will be a celebratory service and heritage exhibition to which former members are welcome.
John Josephs, president of the 85-member congregation, was “delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund has acknowledged the importance of Jewish heritage, especially in a small community such as ours”.
