The exchange of a menorah and cricket bat marked the move of the Covid vaccination centre which has operated for five months at Lord’s Cricket Ground to the nearby St John’s Wood United Synagogue.

Marylebone Cricket Cub (MCC) had collaborated with local health authorities to convert a space at the iconic ground into the biggest vaccine centre in the borough, aiming to “knock Covid for six”.

However, Lord’s is now preparing for the return of spectators, necessitating a new venue for the vaccination centre.

The gifts were exchanged by acting ground superintendent Jon Williams and the shul’s Rabbi Mendel Cohen.

Rabbi Cohen said: “We are thankful to Lord’s for hosting the NHS and vaccinating so many, including myself and many members of our community. We are also thankful to our community members who volunteered on site.

“We are happy to continue the innings and offer our synagogue, home of the Lord, to the NHS.”
