Museum pieces on Shoah are popular

A programme of commemorative events at Manchester’s Imperial War Museum North has proved a big draw.
Tickets were sold out for a talk by survivor Mala Tribich, who fell victim to typhus while interned at Bergen-Belsen.

On Sunday, award-winning Israeli fine art photographer Ori Gersht is presenting his film Will You Dance For Me? about a young Auschwitz prisoner forced to dance at an SS officer’s Christmas party.

Guided tours of Holocaust-related exhibits were also organised in response to demand.

Spreading the word, Greater Manchester’s Jewish Representative Council supported events In Burnley, Blackburn, Wigan, Trafford, Rochdale and Bolton.

Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Gary Millar, joined Rabbi Mordechai Wollenberg of Childwall Hebrew Congregation in a town hall memorial preceded by an audience with three survivors at the Museum of Liverpool.
