Marks & Spencer chief executive Sir Stuart Rose compared his company’s values to those of educational charity ORT when he addressed a British ORT business breakfast at the Park Lane Hotel last Friday.
Sir Stuart told the 250 guests that both organisations appreciated the importance of education and training, “doing our bit in society to help people”.
In his opening remarks, breakfast chairman Lloyd Dorfman observed that ORT’s ethos “has always been that education leads to self-sufficiency and these skills lead to employment. ORT does not give hand-outs as much as leg-ups.”
British ORT chairman Alan Goldman talked about its work and the breakfast raised nearly £50,000.
