Mitzvah Day organisers are anticipating the biggest ever turnout at the weekend with over 1,000 events in the UK and other activities around the globe. “It’s all grown enormously,” said Mitzvah Day’s communications
manager Atalia Cadranel.“We’re always expanding, galvanising new groups along the way.”
Getting in early, the JC had its own “Mitzvah Monday”, delivering boxes of food, toiletries and other essentials donated by staff to the Doorstep homeless families project in West Hampstead. Welcoming the JC contribution, Doorstep’s director Vicky Fox explained: “We cater for 40 families every month. They often come here after losing their own support networks, so we see ourselves as their extended family.”
Among those making the delivery was advertising account manager Debbie Rose, who said: “The JC is the community. It felt very nice to give something back.”
