Mill Hill East Jewish Community is continuing to grow in lockdown with a membership now standing at 225.
The young community, which became a full United Synagogue member in 2018, marked the week of Tu Bishvat with a series of virtual events including a seder, a cocktail-making night and an arts and crafts activity where children decorated plant pots and planted sunflower seeds.
Responding to the pandemic, the community established the “MHElpers” group to assist the vulnerable. It has maintained provision for both adults and children and launched an Instagram page which has proved successful.
Co-founder Avi Gillis said that “even during these difficult times, we have been fortunate to be able to continue to grow the community and support our members with content and virtual events throughout the lockdowns”.
