Michael McIntyre has added a synagogue to his list of gig venues after a sell-out charity performance for Jewish Care at Kinloss in Finchley.

The arena-filling comedian responded to a request from event sponsor Daren Burney and gave his services for free.

Although the event was organised by the charity’s Redbridge Sports and Entertainment Committee, it was held at Kinloss for reasons of both capacity and covenience for the star of the show.

Essex supporters of the charity travelled the North Circular in convoy and more than 300 enjoyed the performance, which raised £140,000.

It also marked the tenth anniversary of the committee, which along with the Redbridge Aid Golf Society, has raised more than £1.8 million to support Jewish Care services in the locality.

Speaking afterwards, committee chair Andrew Klein thanked the comedian for “giving up his time to entertain us in a hall just slightly smaller than Wembley. The room was filled with laughter from the moment he started until the very end. It was an amazing evening.”
