Leeds' Lord Mayor elect, Councillor Judith Chapman, has already made one stipulation: "I won't be working Friday nights or Saturdays, unless it is at a synagogue."
The Liberal Democrat councillor for Weetwood ward will be the city's first Jewish woman lord mayor when she takes office in May.
She became involved in local politics through her brother Mark, who led the Lib Dems in a joint administration with the Conservatives and served as deputy Lord Mayor of Leeds. She was elected in 2006 with a majority of 1,200.
Councillor Chapman is scrutiny chair for Children and Family Services, heading a committee of 20 which deals with issues including fostering, school meals and nursery places. She and her family are active members of Sinai Synagogue, which she chaired for three years in the 1990s. Outside of her civic duties, she enjoys travel.
