Manchester's £100k Laniado dinner

articlemain

A Manchester dinner to support Laniado Hospital in Israel has raised £100,000 towards refurbishing the accident and emergency facilities.

Lydia Lanxner, director of disaster, medical, chemical and biological warfare preparedness at the Netanya-based hospital, told the 150 guests about her work there and its speedy response to terror attacks.

"You could hear a pin drop when she spoke," said Manchester British Friends of Laniado organiser Charlie Simenoff, who added that he was stunned by the generosity of supporters.

Guests also heard from Prestwich GP Dr Jonathan Lieberman, whose son was treated at the hospital six weeks ago.
