Muslims and Christians joined West London Synagogue congregants for a shared iftar, the meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast.

It was part of the Big Iftar - an initiative launched by interfaith activist Julie Siddiqi - retitled this year as the Big Royal Iftar in recognition of the Queen's 90th birthday.

The 200-plus guests enjoyed a buffet-style vegetarian meal and heard from West London's Rabbi Helen Freeman about Shavuot and the importance of interfaith dialogue.

Islamic teacher and scholar Rakin Fertuga Cisse discussed the relevance of Ramadan.
