The Pinner eruv has gone live, the culmination of ten years of effort. Its 15-mile perimeter is one of the longest in Greater London and the area covered includes central Pinner within the borough of Harrow, Hatch End, Pinner Green, Rayners Lane and North Harrow.
Ian Abrahams of the eruv committee hopes the religious boundary will attract "young observant families to Pinner." He added: "This is another asset to go alongside the Jewish primary school, the active and vibrant community, pleasant rural surroundings and convenient shopping and transport facilities.
"The eruv will enable our children and adults to have greater freedom to enjoy Shabbat - and the children and grandchildren of our members to come and stay in Pinner without having to worry [about carrying items]. We are very excited that we are up and running.”
