Merseyside Jewish Representative Council is conducting its own local community survey to coincide with the 2011 Census.
The aim is to provide a detailed snap-shot to help understand communal needs now and in the future, not least by asking respondents if they are likely to remain in the city.
An online version has been developed by Philip Sapiro, the council's demographer. Physical versions will be distributed through synagogues. An overview of findings will be published, although individuals' details will remain confidential.
Council head Gordon Globe said the initiative took its inspiration from an idea in the early 1990s for a community questionnaire by then council president Dr Myer Goldman.
"Technology has facilitated our attempt to obtain up-to-date information and provide a more detailed analysis of our future requirements," Mr Globe explained.
"The future of the Merseyside Jewish community will be enhanced through active involvement, so we want to encourage as many people as possible to take part."
