Liberals decide on a new name

articlemain

The North Herts Liberal Jewish Community has voted to change its name to Stevenage Liberal Synagogue, reflecting its principal base and growing profile in the area.

Established four years ago by local residents who met informally for occasional services in their homes, membership has grown to around 50, with twice-monthly services in local community centres and regular social activities.

To mark the name change, the community invited the mayor of Stevenage, Councillor Sherma Batson, to a Friday night service.

The mayor was welcomed by the shul's chair, Gillian Wolfe, and after a service led by Linda Paice and Terry Wolfe, joined members for a chavurah supper.
