Many Leeds Jewish Housing Association tenants on its Moortown estates are having to choose between food and warmth because of escalating living costs.
Addressing an event staged to raise awareness of environmental issues and promoting fuel efficiency, LJHA project director Craig Simons reported that many occupants were struggling to meet rising food and fuel prices.
"Our aim is to encourage tenants to use green methods and to offer ways to reduce utility bills."
The open day was organised by seven Leeds-based housing associations representing 10,000 tenants. Mr Simons was delighted with the turnout of 400 and "particularly the feedback on putting into practice the green methods we suggested".
