The visit of Israeli chef Yossi Elud from award-winning Soho restaurant, The Palomar, to Leeds' MAZ community centre inspired eight amateur chefs to cook up a storm.
Under the tutelage of Mr Elud, Chloe Mitchell, Sara Graham, Rebecca Manning, Michele Jackson, Mike Sheaf, Andrew Lewis, Ayala Graham and Sarah Gould put their culinary skills to the test.
And, in the evening, they laid down their ladles to wait on tables, serving their menu of modern Jerusalem and Mediterranean dishes to 130 diners.
The chef said his students had been "absolute stars. They have worked hard, listened, and created beautiful food."
Ms Manning said it had been exciting "to learn from a professional who was erudite, patient and super friendly".
The event was organised by Leeds Jewish Welfare Board's young fundraising committee and raised £3,500-plus, guests having been asked to donate what they thought the meal was worth.
