Learning disability charity Langdon has been awarded £40,000 of the £200,000 available from Barnet Council’s Supporting Independence Fund for two employment projects.

Link2Support and Link2employment will focus on creating job opportunities for young adults with learning disabilities.

The former is a “marketplace” information event, the latter a vehicle to engage and educate local employers on taking on and training those with mild-to-moderate learning disabilities.

Langdon learning manager Nigel Shields said: “This is a fantastic advancement for Langdon in terms of pushing forward on our employment initiatives and we are delighted to have been successful on both bids. We look forward to working with Barnet Council and local employers to increase employment levels in our community.”
