The opportunity to run with the Olympic spirit gave Langdon resident Hannah Levy the chance to “make the games happen”.

Ms Levy, who lives at a Langdon Supported Living property in Manchester, headed south after being chosen as one of the 70,000 volunteer “Games Makers” for the London 2012 Olympics.

Following two days’ training Ms Levy, family members and Langdon support staff Sarah Oughton and Kirsty Wright were based at an Olympic camp in Bexleyheath. From base Ms Levy was supported to travel on trains to the Olympic Park in Stratford, where she volunteered for 10 days as a Games Maker. Her duties included checking-in VIPs using a barcode reader and handing out maps of the arena and London transport.

“I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I met lots of people and provided people with information they needed to enjoy their Olympic experience,” Ms Levy, 23, said.
