Strawberries and parev cream will be among the more traditional offerings from a kosher café for Jewish tennis fans during Wimbledon.

It will be the second year for the Chabad of South London Campuses' venture, offering barbecue items, takeaway sandwiches, baked potatoes and homemade brownies from the Wimbledon Golf Club car park.

The location is a familiar one to those who queue for tickets and the café will operate from midday until the end of play.

Chabad's Rabbi Dovid Cohen ran the stall last year from the driveway of Chabad House in Wimbledon. At the new venue, he hopes to sell thousands of punnets of strawberries, rather than the hundreds sold in 2009.

"It was very successful last year and people have already phoned me up to check that we'll be back. We had to fight hard to get the spot."

Rabbi Cohen will again be in charge, helped by family members and student volunteers. The venture is seen as public service more than commercial, but any profits will go to Chabad.

Although the volunteers are tennis lovers, their only guide to Andy Murray's progress will be from the roar of the crowd. "I like tennis, but I never get to see any games," he said.
