Educational provision at the Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary School nursery has been taken over by an external provider. As of the new term, it is being operated by Little Bicks, which runs Jewish nursery schools in Borehamwood and Mill Hill.
Little Bicks Gan Katan, as it will now be known, will take children from the age of 18 months to four-years-old. Owner, Rivka Bick, has been looking to expand into other areas and says the Wohl venture is a return to her roots.
“Before having my own children 11 years ago, I taught the reception class at WIJPS and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It feels special to open a Little Bicks nursery at this school. We give each child the platform to learn, explore and grow as individuals while understanding how to play and interact with their friends.”
School governors’ chair, Ben Saltman, said the arrangement would allow WIJPS to concentrate fully on the primary section. “Little Bicks was the stand-out candidate to manage our pre-school. They share our ethos and make the perfect partner for our parents and children.”
Little Bicks Gan Katan is being managed by Natasha Silver, who has transferred from the Mill Hill nursery. “We are so thrilled to be part of the exciting future of WIJPS, utilising the stunning new building and facilities,” she said. “After the wonderful open meeting we had at the school in March with the future parents [of nursery children], we can’t wait to start building relationships.”
The change has not led to redundancies but there has been a small increase in fees. The nursery was previously “massively” subsidised by the school.
