The president of Yavneh College in Borehamwood, Benjamin Perl, has complained to the Israeli embassy that the country’s Education Minister, Shai Piron, did not visit Yavneh, despite going to a nearby non-Jewish technical college during his recent trip to London.

Rabbi Piron went to see the new Elstree UTC and a picture of him joining a jamming session on guitar appeared in a local paper. Mr Perl complained in an email that the Jewish community was “in a state of shock” at discovering that the minister had visited a non-Jewish school 200 yards from Yavneh and yet could not find time to visit the Jewish school “to address our 1,100 pupils, despite being invited many times”.
It was “nothing short of a scandal”, Mr Perl wrote.
