Hendon gets all-day nursery

articlemain

A nursery providing full-time childcare will open at Hendon's Beis Hamedrash Nishmas Yisroel Synagogue in September.

Its founder, childminder Tracy Lewis, said the nursery would fill an important need for working mothers by catering for children up to the age of four from 8.30am until 6pm.

"I had been doing childminding from home for children up to the age of two for the past five years, but I noticed a big demand from working mums who needed longer hours for their older children," Ms Lewis explained.

"They need that all-day care, but they also want that Jewish influence.

"The parents want them to do davening and learn brachahs. They don't want their children coming home asking for Christmas trees and knowing nothing about Chanucah - and that becomes more important as they get older.

"We found the premises a few months ago and now have the space to cater for 30 kids."

The nursery will close only for the festivals and Bank Holidays.
