One of London’s leading Charedi congregations has chosen a new rabbi after searching for more than a year.
Members of Hendon Adath Yisroel Synagogue voted last night by 101 to 54 to accept Rabbi Shloime Yitzchok Bixenspanner from Canada.
He will succeed Rabbi Pinchas Roberts, who retired in January after 50 years.
In a letter from the executive this morning, members were told that based on the 65 per cent vote in favour, Rabbi Bixenspanner would “be happy to accept the position, subject to contract”.
The founder of a central Toronto congregation, Kahal Yereim, he visited the congregation from Thursday to Tuesday this week.
