A quiz team comprising members of the Nottingham Liberal and Leicester Progressive congregations has made it through to the final of a Harry Potter trivia tournament.
Known as the “Felix Felicis Four” after a magical Potter potion, Charlie Barker, Max Worth, Rachel Benn and Pat Dean won their regional round of the contest, organised by publishers Bloomsbury to mark the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book.
They will compete against qualifiers from throughout the country in the final in London later this month and are among the favourites, having dropped only half a point in their heat.
Ms Benn said she was “a massive Harry Potter fan — maybe even a super fan. I had an entirely Harry Potter themed 18th birthday party. I’ve partly taught myself French through reading the books and watching the films in French. I am now trying it in Chinese.”
Nottingham Liberal Synagogue’s Rabbi Tanya Sakhnovich told the team: “As the book says: ‘You sort of start thinking that anything is possible if you have enough nerve’.”
As well as trophies, the winning team members will receive Potter goodies including deluxe editions and posters signed by stars of the movies.
