Malcolm Gordon has stepped down as governors' chair of Yavneh College in Borehamwood, having been involved in the school since its inception 11 years ago.

"I have been part of Yavneh since the first meeting on the whole project," said Mr Gordon, who has been succeeded by vice-chair Sue Nyman. "I have always said I would step down once all the building work has been completed and that has now happened.

"The school is on a firm footing and I believe it is now time for someone else to take the reins. I am immensely proud to have been involved with Yavneh and to have worked alongside people like the head, Dr Dena Coleman, and the school's president, Benjamin Perl."

Mr Gordon will continue as chair of the school's foundation trust and as a governor.
