Kol Chai - Hatch End Jewish Community - launched its 25th anniversary celebrations with a singing workshop on Sunday.

More than 40 members and friends enjoyed a musical two hours in a variety of languages under the guidance of singer-songwriter Judith Silver.

Other celebratory events include a silver anniversary party, Rabbi Michael Hilton's own "Desert Island Discs" and a lecture on the future of British Jewry by Keith Kahn-Harris.

Kol Chai president and anniversary programme chair Peter Lewy said: "The variety of events we have planned reflects the dynamism and breadth of interests of our close-knit community.

"This is an opportunity to celebrate our journey and look forward to an exciting future."
