Kate Briggs has been announced as the new Glasgow Reform Synagogue rabbi.
Having previously served as a student rabbi at the shul, Rabbi Briggs will be taking up the ministerial role on a part-time basis following her ordination from Leo Baeck College.
Glasgow Reform has been without a rabbi since Nancy Morris left in 2012.
Shul vice-chair Steven Anson said: “We’re very excited to have Rabbi Briggs joining our congregation. We’ve already been approached by a number of people wanting to rejoin the shul since word got out about the appointment.
“While studying, she had been working with us one week a month and has made a great impression on our congregation and the wider community.
“It is one of a number of plans the new executive of the shul have for rejuvenating our synagogue and all aspects of Reform life in Glasgow,” Mr Anson added.
Rabbi Briggs was unavailable for comment.
