Regional synagogues and other communal properties of historic and architectural importance drew the crowds during B'nai B'rith UK's annual European days of Jewish culture and heritage.
An open day in Glasgow organised by Garnethill Synagogue Preservation Trust in conjunction with Garnethill Hebrew Congregation and the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre attracted more than 850 visitors. In Liverpool, hundreds turned out for a guided walk around Deane Road cemetery organised by the Princes Road congregation and a separate talk held in conjunction with National Heritage Days.
Programme co-ordinator Valerie Bello said that events held throughout the country demonstrated "the increasingly significant role heritage plays in our national life". The number of non-Jewish visitors of all ages could only enhance interfaith understanding.
