Immanuel College students were among the latest graduates of the Alan Senitt community leadership programme, which links year-10 pupils in mainstream and faith schools. Pupils from Hillingdon, Harrow and Watford were also honoured for their achievements in inter-community work.

It was the third year of the programme, one of several projects set up by the Senitt trust in memory of the Jewish activist and interfaith worker who was murdered in America five years ago at the age of 27.

Parents, teachers and other supporters of the programme attended the graduation ceremony, held at the RAF Museum in Hendon, which also featured an exhibition arranged by participants in the scheme. Guest speaker was BBYO president Alex Angel, a graduate of the 2009 programme.

Trust chair Emma Senitt told the students that their community programmes had been successful "because of your enthusiasm to learn, communicate, explore and create local projects. This is exactly what the Alan Senitt Memorial Trust is all about. I am sure that my brother is very proud of all of us."

It is hoped that additional schools will take part during the next academic year.
