Four shuls, one voice

articlemain

A combined Yom Hazikaron/Yom Ha’atzmaut event at Pinner Synagogue was the first in what is hoped will be joint ventures between the four United Synagogue communities on the outer north-west London fringes.

The commemoration attracted over 300 members from the host community, Northwood, Ruislip and Watford. The programme featured the visiting rabbis and contributions from young community members. A proportion of profits will be donated to Magen David Adom.

Watford Synagogue chairman Brian Levy said there had been “a fantastic atmosphere on the night. The four communities worked very well together. It would not have been possible for a single smaller shul to produce an event on this scale in isolation and we all hope it will be the first of many such joint events.”

Stuart Soloway, Northwood Synagogue’s representative on the co-ordinating committee, pointed out: “In joining forces in this way, our ultimate aim is to strengthen and increase the availability of Jewish activities across the region.”
