Acclaimed violinist Maxim Vengerov set the tone for the annual recital and gala dinner of Jewish Care’s Holocaust Survivors’ Centre, which raised £116,000.
Among nearly 300 guests at the Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge was Israeli ambassador Daniel Taub, who said: “Tonight is about expressing our admiration and love for the survivors.
“We must ensure that their story will never be forgotten.”
An emotive appeal film illustrated the importance to survivors of the Hendon-based centre. It was described as a place where “we all look out for each other, we feel at home — somewhere we belong”.
