Cancer care charity Chai is bowled over by the prospect of former England cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss addressing a fundraising breakfast next month on the eve of England’s One Day International against India.
He will be in conversation with the writer, broadcaster and cricket aficionado, Giles Coren, and the City of London event will benefit both Chai and the Ruth Strauss Foundation, set up by Sir Andrew in memory of his wife, who died in 2018, having been diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers.
The foundation offers professional support for families preparing for the death of a parent from cancer and advocates for greater focus and research in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers.
Chai chair Louise Hager was “delighted to be partnering with the Ruth Strauss Foundation, not only by holding a joint event but also by sharing our knowledge and expertise”.
Ruth Strauss Foundation CEO Ines Thiru praised Chai as “a leader in the field of community-based cancer care and support”.
She added: “We are thrilled that we can collaborate to raise much needed funds for families impacted by cancer.”
