Eight chazans and two male choirs joined forces for a sold-out tribute concert to a popular tenor who died of cancer last year, aged 62.

The Wembley Synagogue event — also raising money for Chai Cancer Care and Laniado Hospital in Netanya — was in memory of Peter Heimann.

Mr Heimann was an enthusiastic chorister at Belsize Square Synagogue, where he sang in the choir from his teenage days, and at Mill Hill Synagogue, which he joined in 1995.

He also sang solo parts with the Kingsbury Amateur Operatic Society and was a member of the London Jewish Male Choir and the London Cantorial Singers, which took part in the tribute concert.

The featured performers were Yossi Muller, Jonathan Murgraff, Gedalya Alexander, Eliot Alderman, Jason Blair, Steven Leas, David Rome and David Shine.

“Peter was passionate about chazanut,” said Mr Heimann’s widow Sue. “He would be humbled at the thought of this concert.”
