A Charedi disabilities charity in Stamford Hill has won an award for its volunteering work.
Bikur Cholim D'Satmar has been awarded the Investing in Volunteers Quality Mark after a report found it "has a very dedicated group of volunteers who feel a sense of commitment to its activities".
The charity was founded in 1979 and provides support, facilities and services that range from hospital visits and respite breaks to transportation and delivering meals. There are 70 female volunteers.
Beryl Jeffreys, who carried out the review, said: "The input and devotion of the volunteers is over and above what is expected. The volunteers are motivated and well supported by Bikur Cholim and are prepared for their roles in an exemplary way."
Tobi Berger, volunteer co-ordinator at Bikur Cholim, said: "The award is a tribute to the unsung heroes who are at the frontlines, delivering services in a way which makes us proud. Volunteering has always been at the heart of Bikur Cholim and our volunteers are not always aware of the value of their work."
