Changes delay eruv

articlemain

A planning application for a Mill Hill eruv is being resubmitted to Barnet Council in the light of small-scale amendments.

Conditional planning consent for the religious boundary, enabling the observant to push or carry items on Shabbat, was granted in July. But a number of relatively minor alterations to the route required a full re-submission of the proposal. Mill Hill Eruv Charitable Trust chair, Gill Gallick, hopes that, if there are no further snags, "we will be able to go out to tender in the summer and perhaps start construction by the end of this year".

Meanwhile, work has begun on the redevelopment of the Mill Hill Synagogue site, starting with the construction of a community centre. The £3 million project is scheduled for completion by next January.
