As part of efforts to reach out to Jewish communities in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, high-ranking clergy including the Bishop of Bedford, the Rt Rev Richard Atkinson, attended the Shabbat morning service at Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue.
They also popped into the children's services and met community members at kiddush, before joining the shul's senior minister, Rabbi Chaim Kanterovitz, and his family for lunch. After the visit, one of the clergy, Rev Bonnie Evans Hill, tweeted that "everyone was so gracious and the conversations over kiddush and lunch made some great connections that we are looking forward to developing".
