Close on 200 people attended the final service at Bradford Synagogue, bringing a 106-year history to an end.

The service was conducted by Carl Evans, who led the congregation in a rendition of Adon Olam sung to the tune of We’ll Meet Again.

Past president and long-standing member Albert Waxman said it had been “an outstanding occasion. It was remarkable to see a crowd who had wonderful memories of the shul. Many had grandparents and great-grandparents who worshipped there.”

Mr Waxman said requests for the donation of the shul’s sifrei Torah had been received.
The Etz Chaim Synagogue in Leeds is handling members’ burial arrangements and the shul building will be put up for sale.
