The Reform and Liberal movements are to host their first Israel tour with Birthright, open to those in their early to mid-twenties who have never been on an organised educational trip to the country.
Liberal Judaism young adult chaplain Rabbi Leah Jordan was confident that the movements would fill the 40 places for the 10-day programme in August.
"We are expecting this to be a very popular trip. Participants will be able to see and consider Israel through Progressive eyes, so it will include experiences and visits that you wouldn't find on any other Birthright trip," she explained.
"It is also going to enable us to be a community together - praying Progressively, engaging with Judaism and learning."
The Movement for Reform Judaism's young adult development rabbi, Benji Stanley, felt the programme offered "a great chance for young adults to go on an inspiring free trip to Israel. They can connect to their Jewish identity and explore the exciting work of the Progressive and secular movements in Israel."
Reform and Liberal already collaborate on a European tour for 17-year-olds and a gap year programme in Israel.
