Shadow Health minister Luciana Berger gained a first-hand appreciation of the work of mental health charity Jami when she toured the Martin B Cohen Centre for Wellbeing in Edgware.
She met service users, staff and volunteers. discussing ways to tackle the stigma around mental health within the Jewish community. She also learned about Jami resources such as its employment service and recovery education centre.
"I am immensely proud to see such a positive approach to mental health services coming from the Jewish community," Ms Berger said. "Jami puts service users at the heart of their approach. The great results the centre achieves are a testament to the hard work of staff and volunteers."
Chief executive Laurie Rackind was "pleased to be able to showcase our services to someone who demonstrates such enthusiasm in breaking down the barriers around mental health."
Ms Berger will be back with Jami next month when she addresses its fundraising tea.
