The chairman of Leeds residential home, Donisthorpe Hall, has pledged that a £2.2 million wing will be finished using “in-house expertise” after the construction firm went into administration.
Geoff Caplan — who worked in civil engineering and building before retirement — said the state-of-the-art dementia unit “is well on the way to completion.
“We have our own team of architects and quantity surveyors and they have put proposals on the table for an immediate start to complete the work, hopefully in the next few months. With any luck, some of those who were already working on the site will be employed. In the eventuality of extra costs being incurred, these will be covered by a bank bond deposited from the previous builders.” Hiring another construction firm to complete the work has not been ruled out.
The dementia unit was due to have been finished by the end of February. Now Mr Caplan anticipates completion after Pesach.
“We will overcome this predicament,” he insisted. “At Donisthorpe Hall there are no problems, only solutions.”
