Fed up with the lack of trendy yet modest clothes, fashion designer Clare Pater decided to take matters into her own hands.
The 25-year-old Orthodox mother-of-one has launched a clothing company providing custom-made modest clothing and accessories.
Mrs Pater, a former designer at leading high-street chain River Island, tells People: “I often found that when I was going shopping none of the fashionable clothes were appropriate. I used to think: ‘If only the skirt was a bit longer or the neck a bit higher’ — and so I would end up doing it myself.
“I wished things could just have been ready-made. There are so little suitable clothes on the high street today.”
Called Clare’s Boutique, her company offers both custom and ready-made clothing and accessories.
“I hope it will help people to blend in and wear the fashions they want.”
Mrs Pater studied fashion and clothing at the Leeds College of Art and Design before working for the designer label Rodnik and completing a stint with the supplier for Marks & Spencer fashion.
She now runs the business from her home in Hendon, north London, where she lives with her husband Josh and their nine month-old daughter.
