Artistic director Clara Armand's new production opens at the Bloomsbury theatre, London, later this month.
Titled On the Borderline, it is about how people can change their lives. Set on the borderline between Bognor Regis and Middleton-on-Sea in 2007, the action takes place during a charity do. A pair of strangers arrive to make people do what they have never planned to do. Ms Armand tells People: "I'm not sure when the inspiration came from. At some point I said that the modern genre isn't pure. There isn't just pure comedy or pure tragedy. We jotted down a couple of scenes and that was the kernel." She says the play is on the borderline of a comedy and a tragedy. Born in Bulgaria, Ms Armand now lives in Harrow, Middlesex. She has directed extensively in London and Edinburgh and also teaches acting.
