New Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis will attend the opening of JW3, London's £50 million Jewish community centre, on October 1.

He will give a speech and attach the centre's mezuzah, which has been designed by world-renowned artist Sir Anish Kapoor.

The new centre aims to appeal to all sections of the community, and to reach out to secular Jews and non-Jews. Its launch programme includes an evening with the actor Kevin Spacey and a season of Jewish films.

Sir Anish will attend the launch along with Dame Vivien Duffield, whose Duffield Foundation has helped raise funds for the venue.
