Chelsea football club is investigating claims that its player Yossi Benayoun was racially abused by the club's own supporters at the weekend.
The Israeli international was the target for boos and antisemitic taunts from a section of the Chelsea fans when he came on as a substitute during the match against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
Benayoun later tweeted that "sometimes people are crossing the limit. And I'm sure the club will sort it".
The player has reportedly been told by Chelsea officials that the club will punish any supporters found guilty of racially abusing him.
A Chelsea source has said that the football club maintains a zero tolerance stance towards racism.
