A record-breaking £4.4 million was raised at Jewish Care's campaign dinner at the Grosvenor House hotel in central London on Monday night.
Proceeds from the event, attended by more than 1,000 guests, represent more than a quarter of the charity's annual £15 million fundraising target. The previous record of £4.2 million was set last year.
In a change from the format of past dinners, service users took centre stage, being interviewed about their lives and political beliefs by Commons Speaker, John Bercow.
Jewish Care chairman Steven Lewis said: "Without the generosity of individuals, we would not be able to provide much-needed services. It was great to see younger faces at the dinner. One of our biggest challenges is to pass on to them the responsibility of supporting and leading Jewish Care."
