A group of Celtic supporters have launched a petition demanding that Sir Rod Stewart, a long-standing fan of the football club, cancels his upcoming concert in Israel.
Sir Rod, who presented the team with the Scottish Cup after their victory in the 2015 final, announced earlier this month in a video message that he would be performing in Tel Aviv in June as part of his world tour.
In the petition, which has been signed by 380 people, fans said they backed the BDS movement and accused the star of breaching "the international cultural boycott of Israel".
They appealed to Sir Rod, who last played in Israel in 2010, to reconsider his decision.
“As a life-long Celtic fan you must be well aware of the special affinity our fans have with the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom. Please cancel your concert."
Last year, Celtic were fined by UEFA after a group of fans displayed Palestinan flags in a Champions League clash against Israeli side Hapoel Be'er Sheva in August.
In 2014, the club were fined £16,000 over a similar incident during a match against Iceland’s KR Reykjavik.
Sir Rod has been approached for comment.
