David Cameron has agreed to attend the Guildhall commemoration to mark the deaths of 11 Israeli athletes at the hands of Palestinian terrorists 40 years in Munich.

The Prime Minister referred to the building levels of support for those calling on the International Olympic Committee to hold a minute’s silence during tomorrow’s Opening Ceremony during his speech to mark the start of London 2012.

“It’s right that in 2012 – 40 years on from the Munich Olympics – we remember the Israeli team members who were killed there,” he said.

“We will be properly marking the anniversary of that tragedy with a special commemoration…and every day of these Games we’ll be demonstrating that there is no more diverse, more open, more tolerant city in the world than this one.”
