Do you flick through the pages of Claudia Roden’s The Book of Jewish Cooking thinking she has nothing on your chicken soup? Then we know a production company that wants to hear from you.

Plum Pictures is on the hunt for “Jewish bubbehs” to take part in a new TV cooking competition alongside a celebrity chef for a British channel.

Contestants will go head-to-head with their best dishes and the winner will have the chance to publish their own cookbook with a major publisher.

“We’re looking for people of all ages and backgrounds,” said Will Daws, one of the producers behind the cooking competition.

“But of course, we would love to hear from Jewish bubbehs who have always dreamt of having their own cookbook.

“Maybe they have a cheesecake recipe that has been passed down generation after generation.”

The programme will give gifted amateur cooks with “strong personalities” the chance to show off famous family recipes and tell the stories behind the dishes.

Be prepared to reveal well-guarded family secrets if you win because “they have the potential of having their recipes come to life beyond the family kitchen”, Mr Daws said.

If you can’t wait to show off how you make the best kugel or kubbah, Plum Pictures wants to hear from you.

To enter, complete the application form and upload a short video no more than two minutes that tells producers about you and your cookbook idea.

“It can be shot on your phone and doesn’t have to be of high production quality as we will be selecting people based on their ideas, their food and a sense of who you are,” Mr Daws said.

The closing date for applications is midnight on September 13 2021. To apply go to www.plumpictures.co.uk/cookbookstar
